Our Favorite Things: Fall Fashion

Fall is so close – and by fall, I mean the deluge of pumpkin scented, and tasting things headed our way, as well as a repeat showing of all of my favorite Harry Potter movies at my local Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. Real fall doesn’t hit Texas until late October, but that doesn’t stop me from wearing seasonally inappropriately warm clothes, and cranking my air conditioning, so I can pretend like it’s fall. I’m talking about my favorite fall items that you’ll find in my closet this year, so we can twin like Mary Kate and Ashley (the only twins that have ever mattered).

-Leggings
I’m as basic as they come when it involves leggings – I adore them, and the fact that society is finally agreeing that we can make them into pants if we try hard enough. NOBODY LIKES RIGID WAIST BANDS. Athleisure makes for happy people. If you’re gonna pull of this look, you have to invest in high quality leggings – nobody wants to see you rocking $3 semi-sheer leggings from Walmart, that we can see through. I usually get high quality Yoga Leggings, or Leather Leggings. My favorites are here, here, here, and here.

-Fall Dresses
I’m normally wearing dresses, so in the fall, I transition to darker colors, and longer sleeves. Shop some of my favorites here, here, here, and here.

-Long T-Shirts
Long t-shirts are great for layers with the above mentioned leggings. Try to get some basics that you can make a lot of different outfit combinations with. Don’t reaching for the nearest Hanes though – grab something a little more structured, like a great basic from J-Crew. I try to size up a few sizes – it’s always better to go looser, when pairing something with leggings.

-Cardigans
I’m essentially Mr. Rogers when it comes to my cardigan collection. My favorite place to shop for fall cardigans is Francesca’s, Anthropologie, and J-Crew. You can shop some of my favorites, here, here, here, here, and here.

-Floppy Hats
Anyone who is familiar with this blog, knows how little effort I like to put into my hair – floppy hats are HUGE for me, and my lazy beauty routine. My favorites are here, here, and here. I always stock up on neutral colors, that will match everything.

-Big Scarves
I love both infinity scarves, and blanket scarves. They’re a great way to jazz up a boring outfit. I steer mostly towards neutrals, plaids, and furs, when shopping for scarves, like this one, this one, this one, or this one.

-Denim Jackets
A good, quality denim jacket is a fall essential. I wear mine with almost everything – you can find it here.

-Leather
A leather jacket is another great basic to have – I have both brown and black and love them both. You can shop mine here and here.

-Booties
Ankle boots are truly the best for when you want to wear fall footwear, but you live in a climate that hasn’t gotten the memo that it shouldn’t be hot as hades outside. My favorites are here, here, and here.

-Over The Knee Boots
There’s something about over the knee boots that make me feel like I should kick a glass door down. I mean – I’m not going to. But it would be cool, right? My favorites are here, here, and here.

These are my favorite fall essentials – so we can all dress like we’re headed to jump in a pile of leafs, while we all sweat to death slowly waiting for the heat to melt us.
