On our way back from Disney, we stopped for a couple of days in two of our favorite cities – Savannah and Charleston. Savannah was up first – it’s a town that, in our opinion, is the perfect Southern summer getaway. Spanish moss dips low off trees, while buildings are intact of a yesteryear time. You feel like Scarlett O’Hara could be walking down the same cobbled streets you are. We also took a side trip over to Disney’s Hilton Head Resort, which was only a 45 minute drive from Savannah. We explored, spent time at the beach, and had a few moonshine drink at the Low Country Backyard. Disney’s Hilton Head Resort is really cool, but we don’t necessarily think it warrants a whole trip to stay there. We think it’s much better tacked on to your time in Savannah.
If you only have one day in Savannah, we highly recommend eating at The Collins Quarter, grabbing drinks at the Prohibition Museums Speak Easy, Congress Street Up, and taking your time exploring the historic squares, and Forsyth Park.
We stayed at the coolest Airbnb, that had a tree house, airstream, and resident cats.
Savannah wasn’t on our travel radar until a couple of years ago, but now it’s one of our favorite places to spend time.
