Walt Disney World’s Yachtsman Steakhouse Review

I’m from Texas, and I’m not a vegetarian. Honestly, I’m as far from a vegetarian as you can get. If you’re looking for vegan restaurant recommendation, or reviews, I can’t help you. I wish I could, and I know that animals have faces and feelings, and I admit that I’m probably in the wrong – but I like my meat garnished with more meat. I think that filet, and New York Strip should be their own food group in my life. I’ve started crying over a chateaubriand before. I AM A FAN OF RED MEAT. If you, are like me, you should make your way to steak lovers heaven, also known as The Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Located in The Yacht Club, this Disney Signature Restaurant just feels classy. Decked out in dark paneling, dim mood lighting, and hunter green and maroon accent colors, this is the kind of upscale restaurant you would expect to find on the East Coast. The Yachtsman Steakhouse specializes in steakhouse classics. The bread service is a little different from the normal Disney bread, as they serve traditional sourdough, and delicious onion rolls. Guys – THESE ONION ROLLS ARE BOMB. They serve them with butter and roasted garlic, and it’s probably my favorite Disney bread service. I could make a full meal out of their bread service, and several glasses of wine from Yachtsman’s delicious wine menu.

We ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer, which comes out on ice. I know it might seem hard to make a simple shrimp cocktail memorable, but this was the most delicious shrimp cocktail I’ve ever eaten. I was distinctly saddened when it was gone, and fighting my husband for the extra shrimp.

The Yachtsman Steakhouse offers a huge variety of steak on their menu, with everything from filets, to strips, to a huge 32 ounce porterhouse steak intended for two people. Our advice would be this – it can be tempting to order the giant steak, just for the novelty of it, but the smaller steaks tend to be better cooked, and have more flavor. We’ve had the porterhouse, and we weren’t a huge fan of the flavor, and found the cooking throughout to be inconsistent. We ordered it medium, and some of it was rare, and some of it was well done. On this trip, we ordered a filet, and it was PERFECT. One of the best steaks I’ve had at Disney World.

The Yachtsman is a great place for a romantic dinner, especially if paired with Boardwalk stroll, or some time spent wandering the beautiful resort afterwards. We enjoy having a cozy dinner for two, then walking over to Epcot to catch Illuminations for a nightcap.
