Taking Care of Extensions

I get a lot of questions about my extensions. My hair isn’t super short, but it’s REALLY fine, and I love having extensions to give it volume and thickness (and make my life much easier!). I love getting to talk to you guys about extensions, and one of the questions I get asked most frequently is about how to maintain them and take care of them. It would be great if we were all born with Blake Lively hair, but until that’s a reality, the next best thing is having well-maintained extensions. Today, I’m sharing my best tips on how to best care for extensions, to keep them looking good. I’ve been partnering with Cinderella Hair Extensions over the last year, and they’re my favorite extensions I’ve ever used – I can’t recommend them enough!

-Separate the extensions every day with your fingers to make sure they don’t stick together.

-DO NOT wash your extensions in the first 48 hours. After 48 hours, wash a couple of times a week, and make sure not to put conditioner on the bonds.

-Make sure you’re always using sulfate free products on extensions.

-Blow dry your extensions as soon as you’re done washing them.

-Use a special extensions brush, like the one from Cinderella Hair Extensions, while brushing your hair.

-When curling or straightening your extensions, don’t put heat directly on the bonds, instead styling from the middle to the bottom.

-Sleep with your hair in a low and loose braid, to protect extensions.

-If you’re visiting the pool or beach with extensions, make sure to wash and dry them when you’re done.
