The Void at Disney Springs

Have you gotten into heated debates about The Last Jedi? Are you counting down the day to Star Wars Land opening at Disney World? Have you given serious thought to naming one of your future children Luke? Well, then what we’re talking about today will be of significant interest to you. Disney Springs recently opened the Void, a full body virtual reality experience that requires advanced reservations and is thirty dollars per ticket. The Void takes you into the world of Star Wars where you are a rebel fighting to retrieve secret information for the Rebellion.

I, (David), was honestly very impressed with the whole experience. I’m not a huge VR person, so I didn’t really have any idea of what to expect. The Void is across from Earl of Sandwich (which I consider a positive to be that close to a Holiday Sandwich). Once you arrive at The Void, you start in a room where you chose the color of your stormtrooper, and Poe tells you about your mission. The mission is simple – you’re trying to find a chest with secret information about the Death Star. After this, you don your VR gear (a vest and a helmet), and then you and your team are guided to a separate room where your mission starts. Over the next twenty-ish minutes, you will walk through a series of rooms, fighting stormtroopers and completing tasks.

I can’t say enough good things about The Void. It’s well worth the extra money, and a great example of how far VR technology has come.
