Rome Travel Diary

Rome is one of my favorite places in the world. I first fell in love with it on our honeymoon, when David and I were just babies, and so poor that we ran out of money and had to live off food from the breakfast buffet. Those are some of my favorite memories the older we get, and I was so excited to get to go back. David and I had a great time riding around on mopeds, and eating our favorite Italian food. Today, we’re sharing some of our Rome ‘must-do’s’.

Eat:

-La Casa del Tazza d’Oro

There’s a legend that this is the place the invented espresso drinks, which I’m not sure if that’s true, but never-the-less, this is a must-go place for coffee in Rome. For starters, it’s delicious and DIRT CHEAP.

-Giolitti

This is by far the best gelato in Rome, and maybe even the world. No trip to Rome would be complete without several trips to Giolittle.

-Ai Tre Scalini

This place is beautiful and has great fresh pasta and Aperol spritz’s in the heart of Rome.

-Grazia & Graziella

Head across the river for a taste of more authentic Italian food. The whole menu is delicious at Grazia & Graziella, but I especially love the pizza and pasta carbonara.

Play:

-Trevi Fountain

Because making a wish here is a classic for a reason.

-Colleseum

The tour is fun, but even if you just go see the outside, this is a piece of history you shouldn’t miss.

-Pantheon

It makes you feel like you’ve dropped back in time, and shouldn’t be missed.

-Piazza Navone

It’s one of the most beautiful city squares, full of beautiful architecture and fountains.

-Spanish Steps

Pro-tip, drive around to the top, instead of starting at the bottom, and save your legs the workout.
