A Saturday in Austin, Texas

I bleed Texan. If someone starts singing ‘the stars at night are big and bright’, you can expect me to yell ‘deep in the heart of Texas’ at the top of my lungs. I know it’s been said that Texans have a little too much state pride, but what can I say? The sky is bigger here (along with everything else), and the Mexican food and BBQ is better. One of my favorite cities in Texas is Austin. It’s convenient enough for a weekend or a day trip from our hometown in Dallas, so over the years, we’ve gone down a lot. We went up yesterday to hang out and float the river. Austin is filled with things to do, but I wanted to list a few of my favorites.

Play:

-The Blue Starlite: Mini Urban Drive-in Movie Theatre

-Barton Springs/Barton Creek

-Jacob’s Well

-The Original Whole Foods

-Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

-Kayaking

-Hamilton Pool

-Zilker Park

Eat:

-Poke Poke

-Licha’s Cantina

-The Orignal Chuys

-Anthem

-Food trucks

-Paperboy

Honestly, Austin is one of those cities you can’t go wrong in, no matter how you decide to spend your time. Have fun, and sing a few bars of ‘deep in the heart’ for me while you’re there.
