Free Things at Walt Disney World

You know what I love?! FREE THINGS! People often think that Disney World is one of the most expensive places on earth, as well as the most magical. And what can we say? The mouse likes his cheese. He does give some of that cheese away for free though, if you know where to look!

-Celebration Buttons

Celebrating something? Have a special occasion going on? Just like buttons? Chose a free button from the multitude Disney carries. The most popular places to get your free button is City Hall in The Magic Kingdom.

-Park Maps

Park maps are available for all the parks as soon as you enter the park, and are filled with cool graphics and pretty pictures. We like to keep ours as souvenirs for scrapbooks and shadowboxes.

-WiFi

Disney is ahead of the curve – they provide free, password-free WiFi in all the parks, keeping you connected. This is huge, as it’s friendly to your data plan, and helps you post that selfie in front of Cinderella’s Castle.

-World Showcase Crafts

Have a kid? (We don’t!) In an effort to make World Showcase more child friendly, there are ‘kid-cot fun stops’ all around World Showcase, where kids can complete crafts.

-Club Cool

Have you ever wanted to try sodas from other countries? You’re in luck, because Club Cool is overflowing with all the sodas you’ve never tried before. From pineapple Fanta to the bitter Beverly, this little gem in Future World is a perfect way to beat the heat and get a little taste of a different culture. Best part is, it’s free!

-Disney Springs

While there will be a lot of things at Disney Springs that you will want to buy and eat that won’t be free, a visit to Disney Springs, formerly Downtown Disney, is completely free. This is why it’s perfect for an arrival or departure day that you might not want to pay for an extra theme park ticket for.

-Water

One of the top money saving tips we preach is to not pay for bottled water at Disney World. Quick Service restaurants will give out cups of ice water for free, or if you really want filtered water, you can carry a Britta water bottle, and fill it up at a drinking fountain.

-Stickers

Lots of Cast Members carry around rolls of stickers, to pass out to guests. We LOVE getting a sticker with Mickey Mouse’s face on it, to wear throughout our day, and brighten up our day!

-PhotoPass

Using Disney PhotoPass Photographers is free – there’s no obligation to purchase the photos they take. We love the PhotoPass Photographers because they’re always happy and willing to take pictures of us with our own camera so that we can both get in the shot.

-Fireworks

Want to still watch fireworks on your arrival day, but don’t want to purchase a park ticket? There have been multiple times that we haven’t had the money to spend on an extra night of park tickets, so have chosen to watch Wishes from either the beach at The Polynesian, the dock at the Transportation and Ticket and Center, or the dock at The Grand Floridian Resort.

-Electrical Water Pageant

The Electrical Water Pageant is is one of the coolest, free things Disney does, that most people never see. Usually running about 20 minutes after Wishes, this is a great thing to watch if you’ve caught the fireworks from one of the resorts. The brightly lit barges are pulled across the water, and can be see from anywhere across Bay Lake.

-Watching an outdoor movie

The Disney Resorts show outdoor movies, many of which are easy to just stop by and watch for a while. The Yacht and Beach Club share a screen, and it’s easy to stop by their beach and watch their film along with their guests. We also love stopping by the Polynesian Village Resort, and pulling up a beach chair, and watching movies where we can see Cinderella’s Castle in the background.

-First Aid

Got a cut or scrape? Don’t worry, it happens to me all the time. People joke about how much of a klutz I am. The good news is that all Disney Parks come equipped with a free First Aid center, where you can pick up a band-aid, or some pain-killer.
