My New Years Resolutions for 2019

Guys – how is it almost New Years already? I feel like as I get older, time movies faster – which is a reality I’m not too comfortable with yet. When I was in high school, I felt like every year lasted a lifetime – now, as I rapidly approach 30, every year seems to go faster than the last. As 2019 comes, I wanted to sit down and make resolutions. I like a new year – it reminds me of going back to school, when all the binders and supplies where new, and you truly could wipe the slate clean. I like beginnings, far more than I like endings, so I always look forward to the start of a new year. Today, I wanted to share a few of my resolutions for 2019 with you.

1) Be more present.

I spend a lot of time in front of a screen (I mean, I’m in front of one writing this now). So much of my life and my job is online, that I’ve found that it’s super healthy for me to just leave my phone and computer at home for certain things. If David and I have a date night, or I’m having a girls night out, it doesn’t need to be documented all the time. Being present in your relationships is important, and that’s something I want to get better at this coming year.

2) Judge success by relationships, not business.

To be totally honest with you guys, this one is really hard. When you have a job you love, it’s super hard not to judge how successful you are by numbers or stats. Something I’ve always said, it that I want to focus more on who I am, than what I do – and a big part of that is judging my success in life by how healthy my closest relationships are, not how healthy my business is.

3) Show more grace.

I’ve been given a lot of grace over the years –  a lot of time, when I didn’t deserve it. I think that especially in a social media age, it’s easy to judge first, and get to know someone later. I want to live my life giving grace first, and judgement later.
