Epcot’s La Hacienda de San Angel Review

I’m from Texas – which means a lot of things. It means anytime someone mentions my state in an assembly, I break into a rousing rendition of ‘The Stars at Night’. It means that I think that all tacos should come from a gas station, that BBQ doesn’t exist in other states, and that it’s a cold front anytime it dips under 85 degrees. It means that I’m used to being able to see the whole sky, and that I don’t feel the need to justify why we’re the best state in the union. But mainly, it means, that I KNOW good Mexican food.

I approached Epcot’s La Hacienda De San Angel the same way I approach all Mexican restaurants outside of Texas – with tepid reservation. I was open to the idea that it would be good, but I wasn’t going to bet money on it.

The inside of La Hacienda is BEAUTIFUL – it has a dark interior, and is lit by various hanging lamps, that throw different colored light on the walls. Huge windows offer views of World Showcase Lagoon, and if you’re there late at night – Illuminations.

La Hacienda has a great drink menu, and some of the same drinks as La Cava Del Tequila, including the famous Avocado Margarita (which is the only tequila based drink in the world that I like).

Our table ordered a variety of dishes, including the mango guacamole (good), the empanadas (very good), the queso (insanely good), and the corn soup (best at table). This is definitely a little pricier than some other World Showcase restaurants, but you can do what we did, and make a tapas style meal of appetizers, and leave stuffed.

Overall, we loved the restaurant and highly recommend it – it’s a great place, and a good place to grab a view of fireworks.
